Show transcript
00:04
We're here with Danny Lux.
00:06
How do you feel?
00:07
Well, I'm excited.
00:08
This shit is crazy.
00:09
I like it's like such a chill place to be with everybody
00:12
that supports the music.
00:13
It's, it's pretty sick.
00:15
How did you find out about this?
00:16
But I saw his Instagram and then today before I was
00:20
gonna go to school,
00:21
I called my dad and asked if I could go and then
00:23
she brought me. So you're ditching school?
00:25
Yeah. What's your favorite song you sing a little for?
00:29
No, I'm just kidding.
00:31
Why did you decide to come to this location?
00:34
I feel like Pomona has always had like a special place in
00:37
my heart because it was like one of the first times I
00:39
ever performed live in Pomona fest.
00:41
Yeah. It was like my first time ever headlining.
00:43
I think it was like two years ago already,
00:46
two years ago. It wasn't that long ago.
00:48
This has been a crazy whole trip being in this career.
00:53
I'm just so thankful for all the people that I've been supporting
00:56
Its just been crazy.
00:57
Honestly. Yeah. And did you think you were gonna be
00:59
performing a little bit?
01:01
No. Honestly. I remember when I started making music.
01:04
I, I never really thought about the actual,
01:06
like live performances part.
01:07
So I've always been like,
01:08
so shy and I remember the first,
01:11
every time I, I performed,
01:12
I was so shy.
01:13
Like I forgot the lyrics to the,
01:15
to the songs, I would like,
01:16
stop the songs halfway because I just didn't know.
01:19
I just, I was so shy.
01:26
Plane. Oh, no,
01:34
no. Yeah. Like I'm still so excited for today.
01:40
Like we came here,
01:41
everybody showed up. It was so fun and it was just
01:44
like a chill morning with,
01:46
with the people that listen to the music and I'm just so
01:48
grateful. How are you feeling right now?
01:51
Shaky definitely did not expect I would like meet him and
01:56
take a picture with him today.
01:58
So I feel like my life is complete right now.
02:00
You skate right? I like to skate.
02:03
I'm not the best,
02:04
but I just, I really love like the whole culture of
02:06
it. I actually started skating when I was in middle school
02:09
So I was like 14 or 15.
02:12
And yeah, I skated.
02:14
I would skate to school every day when I have free time
02:16
I'm always just skating in front of my house.
02:19
I like bought like a little mini ramp in a box and
02:22
that's a dream. Having a little skate park in your house
02:24
I'm trying to,
02:25
I'm actually trying to like build like a full on.
02:27
Well, not a full on skate but like at least like
02:29
a little mini skate park in front of my house.
02:31
It'll be safe. Hey,
02:36
I was just kidding with y'all.
02:37
Like, I, I knew how to work in the,
02:43
yeah, where those shoes come from.
02:45
One of my, they're,
02:46
they're called, they're from the brand Los.
02:49
one of my friends,
02:50
his name is Diego.
02:51
He like styled us for tour and,
02:53
he, he brought out these shoes and I was like,
02:55
bro, those are crazy.
02:56
What inspired your, like your clothes?
02:59
Like your fashion? Honestly,
03:01
I've, I've always really liked like that nineties style where they
03:04
would wear like those baggy baggy jeans.
03:07
Yeah, I feel like I kind of mix that with more
03:08
modern stuff with like these shiny belts that I would like to
03:11
wear. You got a balance.
03:13
Yeah, I did the old baggy today but you know,
03:16
that's pretty. Hey,
03:17
thank you. Thank you.
03:18
You, you do Mexican regional music,
03:21
right? What inspired to get into that genre?
03:25
Well, obviously, like my parents are Mexican and I
03:29
was born here, but I feel like my,
03:31
my, my dad brought and my mom,
03:33
they brought all these sounds from Mexico and I just feel
03:38
like Spanish is such a romantic language too and I just decided
03:42
that I was gonna like,
03:43
once I started writing songs,
03:44
I decided I was gonna do regional Mexican music.
03:47
And yeah, people really liked like my new style kind of
03:51
and I didn't even realize my,
03:52
like, I didn't really realize that my songs were different until
03:55
like, people started,
03:56
like, comparing them to like the normal songs.
03:58
And I was like,
03:58
damn, I guess I really do have like my own style
04:01
and I don't know,
04:02
I've just been sticking with that trying to make unique songs and
04:06
just trying to be different.
04:07
So, speaking of music,
04:09
do you wanna go check out a record store and you can
04:12
kind of show us some of your favorite albums,
04:15
some more vinyls? All right,
04:17
let's do it. Where do you usually go when you,
04:28
I like going to like where wherever the,
04:31
like the sixties seventies is.
04:33
Oh, ok. Like,
04:34
I really like the,
04:35
the Beatles. They're collecting a bunch of their,
04:38
their stuff. I could see your music having a little bit
04:42
of Beatles in it.
04:43
But with the, you know,
04:45
yeah, with the regional touch you sit down to create or
04:49
do you just kind of wait until you're inspired to go in
04:53
Honestly? Like sometimes I,
04:55
I'll be in my room and random.
04:58
I'm like, damn,
04:59
like I have this idea,
05:00
I'm feeling inspired. I just record it on like my voice
05:02
notes and I just go from that and sometimes I'm just show
05:07
up to the studio with nothing in mind and we make something
05:10
that same day. Have you guys ever had one of Danny
05:13
Lux's albums in here?
05:15
Yeah. Yeah. We have,
05:17
we had it a couple times and it sold out every
05:20
time. I, I didn't even realize that that there was
05:24
no, I mean,
05:25
I didn't know, but I didn't know that it was like
05:27
actually, like,
05:28
like people would actually get it,
05:29
you know, because I did,
05:30
I did it more personally because I just love vinyls and
05:33
I just wanted to have like my own vinyl,
05:36
the vinyl version of one of my albums.
05:38
And thank you, man.
05:39
Appreciate it, bro.
05:40
Have a good day,
05:41
man. Appreciate it.
05:49
Was there a moment where you thought,
05:51
oh, this is like a turning point in your career where
05:57
you just thought, oh,
05:58
this is real. This is probably Coachella Fest that I was
06:01
so crazy, bro.
06:02
Like having my parents there with me people.
06:05
It was so full like there was a line outside of that
06:08
place like going around.
06:09
It was crazy. Like people were singing my songs.
06:12
That's crazy right there.
06:13
Oh shit. That's me.
06:15
What? Yo, that's so cool.
06:21
Shout out to my boy,
06:23
re, we're gonna be opening up and that's crazy from Mitu
06:28
and Crema. We've been hanging out with Danny Lux today and
06:31
tell us where can we see you next guys?
06:34
I hope to see you guys here in Pomona,
06:36
April 28th. It's gonna be fun and well,
06:38
thank you guys for spending the day with me.
06:40
Yeah, it's been fun.
06:41
Thank you.
