Show transcript
00:08
I play the whole song.
00:11
Alright. Can we cut the song?
00:16
It's just a hard stop.
00:20
Hey guys, welcome back.
00:22
I welcome back to Lincoln Bio.
00:25
I am Jenny and I am Alejandro.
00:27
We've got an interesting show for you today.
00:30
We're gonna be talking what?
00:32
We're watching the Miss Japan drama Bukele re-election in El Salvador.
00:38
Oh, and wait,
00:39
we're hosting the World Cup where we're talking Brett Favre and we're
00:43
talking cartel influencers going viral for drugs.
00:48
Crazy. Let's dive in.
00:54
So United States is hosting the World Cup for the first time
00:56
in 30 years, but they're hosting it in where?
01:02
New Jersey? That's a random as the,
01:08
I mean, we,
01:08
we, we have Miami,
01:11
we have L A love it.
01:12
We have Texas and you guys pick Jersey.
01:17
But you know what?
01:18
Maybe it's not all that bad.
01:20
Maybe they know something.
01:21
We don't love Jersey,
01:24
but let's see what has happened in Jersey.
01:28
Ok, Tony Soprano.
01:30
Oh, I've never seen that but the Sopranos Snooki Jersey
01:35
Shore fist pump GTL.
01:36
All that stuff. Oh Shaq Shaquille Neal,
01:39
my lady, the fedora.
01:40
I love it. What else?
01:42
The second biggest mall.
01:44
Wait is that like a roller coaster that looks like a,
01:47
that looks like a,
01:49
an amusement park. Yeah,
01:50
dude, it's like you can get your roller coaster you for
01:53
21 shopping trip and the Wessel and there's Six Flags there too
01:57
in the mall. In Jersey.
01:59
Jersey. All right.
02:00
So, I mean,
02:00
I guess it's not all that bad.
02:02
We're not the only ones that feel like this.
02:03
Apparently Twitter is also chiming in.
02:05
They're, they're making memes of like people that are,
02:08
you know, visiting the States and be like,
02:09
they're gonna show up to this and it's,
02:12
it doesn't look pretty.
02:14
We have sofa here.
02:15
It's such a beautiful stadium.
02:16
State of the art.
02:17
I don't know how much billions of dollars it costs the taxpayers
02:20
asking. Did, did we pay for it?
02:22
I don't know. Anyways FIFA,
02:25
I'm, I'm gonna watch but hopefully,
02:27
the final could be in L A next time.
02:28
So let us know why,
02:30
why like that's a very random thing to,
02:33
to, to do,
02:34
you know, like what,
02:35
what, what was the reasoning behind this?
02:37
But also Jersey,
02:38
we don't want no smoke,
02:39
we don't want no guy coming after the,
02:41
the freaking you motherfucker.
02:44
Anyways next story. So in other news,
02:49
this hall of fame quarterback has been exposed,
02:53
Brett Favre, I thought was like Brett Favre then why the
02:58
fuck is it spelled Favre?
03:00
You know, you know,
03:01
white people, whatever,
03:03
but in not in the best way Mississippi State Auditor filed papers
03:08
saying that Favre has to repay the state for welfare money.
03:14
Oh, why? Oh,
03:15
shit, Fve had improperly received $1.1 million from a nonprofit that
03:22
spent welfare from the temporary assistant.
03:26
Oh, sorry assistant.
03:27
Why? To pronounce it like that?
03:29
From the temporary? He knew it was coming.
03:35
Oh my God, my mind.
03:36
Oh, fuck welfare from the temporary assistant for needy families program
03:42
That's fucked up to go toward a volleyball arena at the
03:46
University of Southern Mississippi for his daughter.
03:49
The fuck. I'm gonna call a flag on the because what
03:52
is Mr Fabre doing,
03:53
like you said, is it,
03:54
didn't, he didn't he have like a scandal a couple of
03:56
years ago too with the,
03:58
the something about myspace or myspace?
04:01
That's how, that's how old it was.
04:03
It was like somewhere in 2008.
04:05
What was it? Oh,
04:06
yeah. Here it is.
04:08
In 2008, he sent a series of lewd text messages to
04:12
a sideline reporter who worked for the Jets organization.
04:15
Favre contacted first over myspace got her number and began harassing her
04:20
with thirsty voicemails and graphic messages and by graphic messages.
04:24
We mean me pics.
04:30
Well, I guess we know where Drake card is info from
04:35
You. See those recent pictures.
04:36
Yes. No, no.
04:40
Oh well, Mr Fabre,
04:43
we're not proud of you.
04:45
So and your armpit smells in your armpit smells.
04:51
Thank you. So,
04:57
apparently Narco traffickers are influencers.
05:01
Now there's a video circulating online from a user that goes by
05:05
Lachina, Saria del Cartel,
05:07
Jalisco, Nueva Generac.
05:10
And in the video she is proudly singing a Narco Corrido.
05:18
Why would you post and flaunt that?
05:20
You're a Narco online?
05:23
Yeah. No, I'd be keeping low key.
05:26
You know, I keep it low key.
05:28
Like it's like she's snitching on herself.
05:30
Maybe her r cartels are also on social media.
05:33
Isn't that kind of risk?
05:33
True. That is true.
05:34
Like I would, the way I would do it if,
05:37
if I was a narco,
05:38
I would do it.
05:39
Like, if I won the lottery,
05:41
like, you know,
05:42
the, the Mirasola Loteria,
05:45
no way perverse. You know,
05:50
like I'm gonna get that G wagon.
05:52
You'll be like, damn like that the G wagon,
05:55
I'm gonna be living the lifestyle,
05:56
but then they're gonna be like,
05:57
damn like Como Como like the hell is she getting all this
06:00
money? And what are you gonna tell them?
06:01
I mean, the,
06:02
the mascota, the pet supplies is doing good business is booming
06:06
But dude, yeah,
06:07
it's crazy. She doesn't,
06:09
she doesn't look like a narco though.
06:12
I mean, Los can be deceiving sister as we can see
06:18
So El Salvador's president,
06:19
President Bukele is celebrating his recent landslide re election victory.
06:25
But the interesting thing is that he's using his victory to call
06:28
out his international critics and I guess,
06:30
quote unquote his haters.
06:33
Have you heard about this?
06:33
I have, I mean,
06:35
I've heard some good,
06:37
some not so good.
06:39
but also some people are just scared of,
06:41
they're afraid to talk about this.
06:43
You know, it's like a touchy subject.
06:45
I feel like,,
06:47
you know, we have our version one,
06:49
well, not our version but the,
06:50
the version, the media feeds us because we're not in El
06:53
Salvador. So we have that and then there's the actual people
06:58
living in El Salvador that have to,
07:00
you know that they're going through this.
07:02
Yeah, it's just like I would love to hear what they
07:04
have to say how they feel here to explain what the people
07:08
of El Salvador want from.
07:10
Their leader is Professor Parl Beg,
07:12
assistant professor of Political Science at Virginia Commonwealth University and journalist Bianca
07:18
RAA from Puerto Rico.
07:20
Her latest documentary is a about President Bukele.
07:23
So thank you guys so much for joining us.
07:26
We really appreciate it.
07:27
Thank you for having us.
07:29
Professor you recently posted about a survey to find out what
07:33
matters most to voters in El Salvador.
07:36
What did the survey results say?
07:38
Yes, I ran some models off of survey data collected
07:43
by Vanderbilt University called the America's Barometer.
07:46
And I looked at what issues Salvadoran voters care about the most
07:51
And what was interesting was that at the top of the
07:54
list was not gangs and crime,
07:57
which is what is mostly important in the news,
08:00
but rather the economy and unemployment by far.
08:04
Salvadoran voters were more concerned about those things.
08:07
Interesting and it seems like we were talking earlier about social
08:10
media, like he seems to be really popular and there's a
08:13
lot of support for Bukele.
08:14
What's the story there?
08:15
Well, Prince Bukele is a publicist by background.
08:18
When I lived in El Salvador,
08:21
in San Salvador, I lived across the street from his Yamaha
08:23
dealership. So he is a businessman by background,
08:26
but his primary business has always been publicity.
08:29
So he was always very good at pr and especially at social
08:33
media and he uses social media,
08:35
especially Twitter, also Facebook to reach voters directly without going through
08:40
the media. And I wanted to ask,
08:42
Bianca, you were recently in El Salvador.
08:45
Did you feel that residents actually support Bukele?
08:49
Yes, absolutely. It is true and obvious that Bukele is
08:54
enjoying overwhelming support in El Salvador and outside of El Salvador.
08:59
However, there is this discomfort in some of these very
09:02
same communities that used to be victims of the gangs where they're
09:06
starting to see how the state of exception is affecting them directly
09:10
and how they starting to feel powerless when they cannot defend themselves
09:14
when they're accused of being gang members and they're brought to jail
09:18
sometimes for months. And what happens to anyone who is
09:22
critical of Bukele and his policies like the press community?
09:27
Well, it depends,
09:27
like the professor said,
09:29
Bukele has a contentious relationship with journalists.
09:33
I collaborated for this story with the independent newspaper,
09:36
El Faro. El Faro does not have a good relationship with
09:39
Bukele right now. What we're seeing is that these journalists have
09:42
become the target of attacks by the president.
09:46
He will either mock them,
09:48
he will not provide them interviews to be questioned for his
09:52
policies. And there is a concern that as Bukele remains in
09:57
power, that people who are critical of the government will have
10:01
less and less space to voice those opinions you mentioned right now
10:05
he's a president.
10:06
However, I've seen that he called himself the world's coolest dictator
10:11
is that doesn't connect at least to my mind in my mind
10:15
Like what does he mean by that?
10:17
Well, Bukele has been accused of becoming a dictator and
10:21
those accusations come from the fact that he now controls all three
10:24
branches of government. his party has control of the
10:30
legislature, but also when his party,
10:34
you know, became had so many members in the
10:39
legislature, they started replacing judges.
10:42
So the concern here is that he has consolidated power in a
10:45
way that, you know,
10:48
democracy is being dismantled.
10:50
And I wanted to ask professor,
10:53
what are some challenges that El Salvador and its people continue
10:57
to face? Well,
10:58
that is entirely based on his security policy which has involved locking
11:02
up 75,000 people arbitrarily without charge.
11:06
and and basically flooding the streets with with police
11:10
He has been far less capable when it comes to steward
11:12
of the economy. Salvadorans have been seeing inflation go up
11:16
prices rise. The country is deeply in debt and the
11:19
government is reliant on foreign financing which is say loans from abroad
11:24
to continue operating. So I think we will see how long
11:27
the president's popularity can,
11:30
can last based purely on security a lot there,
11:35
but I feel like going scratching the surface,
11:37
but we want to thank you for your time.
11:39
We'll obviously follow this closely and hopefully we can have you both
11:41
back soon. But before we let you go,
11:44
where can people find you on social or you know,
11:46
any websites, blogs,
11:47
stuff like that? Well,
11:49
I am on Instagram,
11:50
tiktok on social media as my name Bianca Relo Bianca Gura.
11:56
So you can find me there and I'm primarily on Twitter
12:00
also blue sky at MP A Arlb er GM Perlberg.
12:07
Alright. Well, there you have it guys,
12:09
make sure to check them out and obviously,
12:12
you know, follow,
12:13
keep following with us and we hopefully we see you guys soon
12:15
Thank you for your time.
12:17
Thank you very much.
12:22
So I wanna ask brother,
12:24
do you refer yourself as American Mexican American,
12:27
Mexican American? Me too,
12:29
Mexican American, but I get told that I do not look
12:33
Mexican like if people were to be like,
12:35
oh wow, like I speak Spanish.
12:37
Oh Wow. I thought you were just white and I'm just
12:41
like, oh OK.
12:42
Did you ever talk shit in front of you?
12:44
Like in Spanish? No,
12:48
not that I've heard of actually.
12:50
No, no, no.
12:52
Actually I have a story for you that happened recently.
12:56
Carolina Shino was just five years old when her family immigrated to
13:00
Japan. She is a technically Ukrainian and that is her
13:07
And so she grew up in Japan,
13:08
her friends and classmates were Japanese,
13:11
you know, and you know,
13:12
she, she's very well into the culture and like many of
13:18
you know, our immigrant parents,
13:20
how they moved into the US and,
13:22
and when they were young and,
13:24
and ourselves too, even she entered Japan's National Beauty Competition
13:30
and she won and there was controversy because they were questioning
13:37
oh, well,
13:37
she doesn't look Japanese.
13:39
How can she win Japan's National Beauty Competition?
13:42
There was just backlash and then they come to find so the
13:46
haters dug up some dirt about her about an affair that ultimately
13:52
led to her giving up her crown earlier this week.
13:55
So I think the fact that she did not look Japanese and
14:00
then they wanted to go in even deeper and they dug up
14:03
that and it's just a whole controversy.
14:06
Porque. No se I mean,
14:07
it sounds like the kind of thing but if she's,
14:12
if the rules didn't state that she had to be specifically Japanese
14:17
it's like in maybe go back to the rule of that's
14:19
how you really feel about that.
14:21
I think, you know,
14:22
luckily for us to help us understand the reality,
14:26
we're actually joined by Marcela who is also known as Mexican
14:31
but Japanese. So we're gonna talk to Marcela about this
14:35
Hi, Marcela.
14:37
Hi, everyone. Thank you so much for having me.
14:39
Thank you for joining.
14:41
We wanted to ask you your opinion on this.
14:44
So like does this reaction to Miss Japan's crowning come as a
14:48
surprise to you? I mean,
14:49
like you mentioned, you know,
14:51
she grew up in Japan,
14:52
it seems like she grew up there from a very young age
14:55
as a young child.
14:56
Her whole life, her culture,
14:57
her language is Japanese.
14:59
So it makes me think about myself,
15:02
you know, I am half Japanese,
15:03
I am half Mexican.
15:05
And if I were to be in that position,
15:08
where I maybe had the opportunity to represent Mexico but would
15:13
I not be accepted maybe to be the face of Mexico because
15:18
I am half Japanese even though I was born in Mexico,
15:21
even though Mexico is,
15:23
I mean, Spanish is my first language,
15:25
my entire family lives in Mexico.
15:28
And I think that would make me really sad because
15:31
I am very Mexican and I've seen your content.
15:34
You're very much Mexican,
15:36
very much Japanese. You're both in one.
15:39
How is it when you go to Mexico?
15:41
And when you go to Japan.
15:42
Is it? How's experience?
15:44
I mean, again,
15:45
I was born in Mexico,
15:46
grew up in Mexico.
15:47
So Mexico for me is home.
15:49
I've only been to Japan once,
15:52
maybe five or seven years ago and we went to me and
15:55
my sisters took my mom to meet her Japanese side of the
15:59
family and it was wonderful.
16:00
I had a beautiful time but I am still new to my
16:04
Japanese culture. It's a part of me that I'm still exploring
16:07
that I'm still learning.
16:08
But I mean, Mexico is just,
16:11
is home for me.
16:12
And I guess, I mean,
16:13
I've heard that you have a growing family.
16:14
So congrats on that.
16:16
Do you plan,
16:18
I know you actually have a little Mexicano baby on the way
16:20
coming next month. So I'm excited to.
16:26
Yes. Exactly. So,
16:27
yeah, I wanted to see like,
16:28
do you plan on teaching your Children all three languages or?
16:31
No? Absolutely. So I don't speak Japanese.
16:34
So I only speak Spanish and English and it's really,
16:38
really, really important for me,
16:40
for my daughter to speak Spanish.
16:41
I mean, I want my daughter to get the full experience
16:46
even though we live in the US and to be able to
16:49
communicate even with the rest of my family,
16:51
right? A lot of them don't speak English.
16:52
So I am speaking to her in Spanish,
16:54
my husband speaks to her in English and we're going to do
16:57
our best to keep it up and for her to learn both
17:00
Well, thank you so much,
17:01
Marcela. We really appreciate you joining us and congrats again on
17:05
your little blessing. And Tambien,
17:08
where can people find you on social media?
17:11
Oh, yeah, I am at Mexican but Japanese and you
17:15
can find me there.
17:17
Yeah, I'm there.
17:18
But thank you so much again for your time and we'll talk
17:21
soon. Have a good one.
17:22
Yes. Thank you.
17:23
Thank you. Thank you for coming.
17:29
You've heard of Puza RAA,
17:30
right, of course.
17:31
All right. Well,
17:32
the main guy, Jop recently got arrested,
17:34
he was going down to Mexico and at the border he got
17:37
stopped for possession of marijuana.
17:39
But isn't it legal?
17:42
That's what's the issue?
17:44
What is going on if marijuana is legal in Mexico?
17:47
Why was Jop stopped?
17:49
So to break it down,
17:51
we actually have a lawyer.
17:52
Omo Castilla that has helped get Jop out of the situation
17:56
He's in jopsjops lawyer.
17:59
Exactly. Como Mucho Puesto.
18:13
no, que marijuana is legal in Mexico.

19:40
No, ma que lo lo oh brother.
20:13
I mean it's, it's so much going on in the world
20:15
sometimes. Like, I just,
20:16
just want to get in my happy place in my room and
20:19
just like, forget about everything and,
20:22
and just put on some movies and series and that,
20:27
that's my happy place.
20:28
What do you watch?
20:29
Do you watch? Like,
20:30
so I like drama because I don't have drama in my life
20:33
I'm a very like,
20:36
no, I don't like drama in my life so I like
20:38
to watch it. I like to observe.
20:40
So I like to watch reality shows on there.
20:44
this show called Love Never Lies when they catch their
20:47
couples in the act.
20:49
And I like Love is blind too.
20:53
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
20:54
Yeah. But sometimes,
20:56
you know, it's hard to,
20:58
I don't know, find something good.
21:00
You have to give it a chance.
21:02
But, yeah. No.
21:04
Yeah, definitely. But you know what?
21:06
I have a solution for you.
21:07
We actually have s,
21:09
he's gonna be giving us his own rex what to
21:11
watch, what to avoid and just his overall thoughts on what's
21:13
on the streaming networks.
21:14
The stand up comedian.
21:16
Yes. With the Mole.
21:17
Mole. Let's go.
21:20
Hey, stop my man.
21:23
How you doing? Good.
21:24
Good. So, you heard us?
21:27
I mean, I,
21:27
I, I'm just scrolling on Hulu Netflix.
21:31
sometimes for too long,
21:32
like it me a hue to start a new show or new
21:36
series. So, what should we be watching?
21:39
Well, I think we should be watching as you,
21:41
as far as like Dra,
21:42
I like True Detective.
21:44
The new season. I don't know if you've seen that.
21:46
That was like, based in Alaska.
21:47
It's got the two,
21:48
late female detectives is so freaking good right now.
21:51
I'm like, in that and I'm like,
21:53
in,, this fool,
21:54
I just started this fool.
21:55
Have you guys seen that?
21:56
I'm caught up on that.
21:57
I saw like the trailers,
21:59
but I haven't seen it yet.
22:01
I started, I just finished season one because Chris Estrada is
22:03
my boy. He just got passed at the comedy store over
22:06
in, in West Hollywood.
22:07
So, and I just,
22:08
I gotta check out his,
22:09
his show because I know he's like a show writer first and
22:12
then like, he's,
22:12
and then he's, he's also a stand up comic.
22:14
But that dude, it's so good right now.
22:16
No. Yeah, I actually had surgery for the first season
22:18
like right before it started.
22:19
So I binged that thing.
22:21
It's really good. I,
22:21
I recommend it. He recommend it.
22:23
You gotta watch it.
22:23
Yeah, exactly. But speaking of good shows,
22:26
but also bad shows.
22:28
So what shows would you say?
22:29
This is? No,
22:30
steer clear, Mires.
22:32
Anything that I feel like is a home renovation?
22:35
I've been, I've been watching like anything on HGTV.
22:38
I'm like, what are we doing?
22:39
We can't even afford a regular house.
22:40
Why are you tempting us?
22:42
I always see the memes where it's like our budget is $3000
22:46
and they have this freaking like mansion.
22:48
It's like selling sunset.
22:50
I'm like later, like,
22:51
look at, look at the homes and this and that.
22:53
And I'm like, I can't even afford a little shack.
22:58
I like that. There needs to be a renovation for your
23:00
apartment. Put up some new shelves,
23:02
maybe some furniture and this is kind of weird but social media
23:08
I like tiktok and everything but I don't like those
23:10
tiktok, those fabricated stories when like somebody will come up.
23:14
I like, I like cheese.
23:15
I like drama on TV.
23:17
But then like in 60 seconds and I'm like,
23:19
yo, that was fake.
23:20
What is happening? No,
23:22
this is real. I don't like any of this.
23:24
So those p those have been making me mad as of late
23:27
What's like one classic movie or show that you're like,
23:30
this is just like my in the background show that we should
23:32
all have on or add to our list that we might be
23:34
sleeping on. Just one show that no had no
23:38
I, I can't,
23:39
I've watched, I haven't showed my wife yet but Narcos Mexico
23:42
right now and then I just finished the wire.
23:46
It, it, it,
23:47
when you watch the wire so old 20 year old show,
23:51
you try to tell people about it.
23:52
You're like, yeah,
23:53
we know we, we saw it 20 years ago when it
23:55
came out. So you feel stupid.
23:56
So it's like watch shit when it comes out.
23:58
Don't fucking watch it 20 years later.
24:00
Can we swap the mo a little bit?
24:01
I wanna see because I've been trying to grow it back.
24:04
Hell yeah, brother.
24:05
Can we get a Y oh Yeah.
24:09
And do you have any shows coming up?
24:10
I know you do comedy.
24:11
You mentioned the comedy store like where you at?
24:13
Where can we see you?
24:14
I do tonight. I'm at the comedy store in the belly
24:17
room. I'm doing a Dirty show.
24:18
It's called The Dirty at 1030.
24:19
I'm giving away free tickets if anyone wants to come out
24:22
I'm also in the Bay area.
24:24
I'm in Sunnyvale, California at this comedy club.
24:26
Rooster feathers. Hey,
24:27
you know what, I'm down,
24:29
I have a haircut appointment but I can try to move it
24:31
cuz Neo cuts my hair.
24:32
If I'm not to go to the comedy store,
24:34
that would be fun.
24:35
It's been a minute and we tried to double date before.
24:38
I never did it.
24:39
I mean, cool.
24:40
And what's your,
24:41
your a social?
24:42
So we can see your clips and stuff at soul comedy
24:45
on Instagram and soul comedy just on youtube and tiktok.
24:50
Don't, don't watch so suffocated.
24:52
Not real stories. It pissed me off the real shit directly
24:57
from Saul. That.
24:59
All right, cool.
25:00
Thank you, Saul.
25:00
And maybe we'll see you tonight later later.
25:04
All right. Well,
25:05
I guess we're gonna swipe away.
25:07
This is the end of the episode Thank you so much for
25:09
watching. Thank you guys.
25:10
This is Jenny and I am Alejandro.
25:12
This has been Lincoln Bio.
25:14
Thank you so much.
25:15
We'll see you on the next one.
25:16
Bye.
